Something very interesting struck me yesterday. It’s very important for people to have the wisdom to be able to distinguish whether or not they are members of a cult. A cult and religion can be similar in the way of dedication and applying the principles to one’s daily life. A cult brainwashes his members, publishing lies about others, hiding truths, fancy rhetoric, hearsay, sucks up to who the cult thinks is right, downplay other capable people, a cult uses prayer to pray against others, not for others. Most cults are spin-offs and their leaders are wanna-bes. One of my favorite songs of all time is “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”. I was told Nichiren Shoshu was terrible, slanderous, and many other bad things! I was told one of the biggest untruths in my entire life! I’ve never been lied to like that and never been hurt by lies like I have been by the Soka Gakkai. Very disappointing! I did something about it and I left. I was approached by one the members, a very good friend of mine, saying “you can’t leave the organization”. Why not? What’s going to happen if I do? Is that cultish behavior or what? I did leave and that was the best day of my life. I chanted 3 million daimoku and found the right answers for me. My decision was not made arbitrarily, it was made after a careful and precise dissection of “me”. I have utmost respect for Soka Gakkai and they have lots of confused members at the moment. When they are able to see clearly, they will repent. Keep chanting! Chanting is powerful no matter what. Eventually, the chanting will open the eyes and lead them back to the right path. I was so happy to meet Rev. Tozawa and will do my best to do more shakubuku.
